Someone can post ten times in the "what are you listening to" thread and be apparently as active as someone who posts in ten different threads in that same week.

No kidding.
We've got a bunch of people that only post in two or three threads, and I have doubts that they even read the other topics.
Whereas a handful of us post in a majority of the topics. From those handful, and the ones of them that here every day, multiple times a day, is where the new mods should come from.

if this were still the age of the coolguy I would unreccomend Xi because he is easy to make fun of, but that time is gone
also: Gaia isn't French
he was born in Ireland
spent most of his young life in America
and is currently living in France

In all serious though, the only people who actually have experience managing a forum that was once comparable to the size of this one are Fred, and (as much as I don't want to admit it) Ray. I'd like to say Noel too, but I'm unsure how much work he did in his case. I think Penguin took the brunt of it. And Ray doesn't even have a real internet browser now, so good luck using any mod tools that need javascript, or pop-up windows, or anything else beyond the Wii's capabilities.
So, uh, unless anyone else here has had a forum containing more than 20 members and 50 messages I only support Fred then.

Listen, being a mod requires no actual experience, how the fuck hard can it be?
Someone's being a jackass newb causing shit storms, well I guess it's time to inform him.
Oh he's not listening, well it's time for a short ban.
Oh he's back and worse than ever, time for a worse ban.
Oh look here's someone else being a total asshole posting shock images on a guest account/proxy, permaban.
Oh look, someone has a sig that doesn't conform to our rigorous and ridiculous size requirements time to be an asshole about it.
Oh look, someone is posting from two accounts, time to be an asshole again.
Oh look, I've been mod for a few weeks now, time to jack up my total post count to the ten-thousands.

We need a mod who is intelligent/involved enough to know how to be fair to all the idiots this board harbors. No offense to Hermes but shit like this:

But we need someone who knows when to let the coolguys have their fun, and when to bring down the

Actually I change my mind. I am nominating someone.
or rather TWO SOMEONES OMYGOD SHOCKING TWIST
When we only have one admin, there is an imbalance of power. Take Hermes. He can do what he wants with no one to moderate his actions. And when that happens, we get people like PED sticking around until they get bored and leave on their own.
Here's my plan:
Noel and Gaia each get admin status. The active mods we already have get promotions by way of more powers (aka ability to ban), myself not included (I'm only in this for the politics).
Or at the least we get one admin and give the other as much power as we can, but seriously I think we need two administrators. Plus that way the admin staff would be capable of catering to more than one group of jenovian idiots. I think Jack and Noel are responsible enough to be able to work together for the good of this quickly dying forum.
But for the most part I vote that Gaia and Noel both get admin status, and that we don't concern Night-Red in any of this because he will never respond.

Also,

was more a statement of "Just because somebody is here every day does not mean they are qualified to manage it" rather than "PED/Palin 2012" like you seem to be thinking.

also I know he's not saying that PED should be a mod. I'm saying that no one else would have used that as a serious example because they know how bad of an example it is (or at least I don't think anyone would, I don't know for sure). That, and in discussions in the mod forum he has made some posts that I feel show that he doesn't really know how to deal with certain patterns of behavior.
